It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!

We may be a tech-focused company, but we understand that it’s better for our mental health to live IRL. So use your phone, tablet or laptop to take a look at the Mental Health Foundation’s advice, then put your gadget to one side and go do the things! You’ll feel better for it!

Mental Health Awareness Week small actions make a big difference poster

Since it’s Mental Health Awareness Week 11-17 May 2026, let’s get some balance in an increasingly busy world reliant on tech!

Here’s our take on the Mental Health Foundation’s Top 10 Actions.

1. Get some travel books and maps from your nearest public library, or visit your local travel agent and plan an ambitious trip. Having something to look forward to gives us hope.

2. Ban phones at the table and really savour your meals! Your senses with thank you!

3. Leave your phone at home on purpose then get out for a walk and closer to nature. After all, it really boosts your mood.

4. Stop catching up on social media in the evenings! Ditch the smartphone a couple of hours before bedtime. Better sleep leads to better health overall.

5. Get creative with actual art materials, rather than on a tablet or desktop. We don’t have to think of ourselves as skilled or talented artists, to get benefit from expressing ourselves. As a matter of fact, getting in our flow state really does soothe an overactive mind. (Ask Michelle about this!)

6. Move regularly – go to the gym or for a swim without your phone or smartwatch telling you to. Or do some housework or gardening! It’s good exercise and doesn’t cost anything!

7. Try just standing and staring outside in the fresh air once in a while, because being in the moment doesn’t require a Mindfulness app!

8. Get social IRL. Getting out there and putting a little effort into relationship building helps us feel we belong and gives us chance to talk and get support. Screen-based meet-ups and relationships are a poor substitute.

9. Don’t allow the negativity on social media to get under your skin. All that negativity will grind you down and make life feel tough. Be kind to yourself as well as others. Give yourself a hug! You are enough.

10. And finally, it may feel like the hardest thing in the world to ask out loud for support, but there are people who care and will listen. Your phone is truly meant for making that initial call for help. You’ll be so glad you did.
